We are all Gary Lineker now! Go on, Gary, go on! – RW

This week Gary Lineker came in the eye of the storm. The popular presenter of Match of the Day got in trouble with the tabloid The Sun for the following tweets.

Any decent person ought to welcome them, for the simple reason that we live in the year 2016.

We quote Gary’s ‘twitterhandbook’ and we do agree!

“The treatment by some towards those young refugees is hideously racist and utterly heartless. What’s happening to our country?”

“Wonder what makes some people feel, by sheer good fortune of place of birth, superior to others. I need a lie down.”

“However old they are, they’re bloody human beings, like you…well sort of.”

“Imagine, just for a second, being a refugee having to flee from your home.”

We support Gary Lineker, yes we do. Though not in every circumstance. So it’s absolutely no obligation for him, if Leicester City could win the Champions League, to present Match of the Day in his underpants again. But in the meantime: we are all Gary Lineker now. Go on, Gary, go on!
